Zwiesboden
HO Gauge by
Derek Gillkerson
This layout is on three
boards, each board is one metre by half metre.
Total operating space required would be
three metres by one & half metres.
Track and points used are
“PECO” code 75 finescale, scenic materials are by “Noch”, “Faller”,
people by “Preiser”, Depot /Maintenance Shed by “Modern Structures in
Miniature”, buildings by various German Manufacturers, Bodenmais
station building was my first attempt at “Scratch” building!
The 3 boards are as follows:-
ZWIESEL
This is Zwiesel
station and surrounding area.
DEPOT & TUNNEL
The area of Maintenance Depot, Fuelling, Cleaning. Also on this board is
the branch line through the tunnel to the town of Grafenau.
BODENMAIS This
is the end of the branch line from Zwiesel, I have tried to capture the
area of this beautiful station, all be it with a degree of “Modeller’s
licence”, would really need the whole layout to do it justice!
So now you can see that the
name “ZWIESBODEN” is from the two towns, namely:
ZWIESel
and BODENmais, both of these towns are in Eastern Bavaria.
ZWIESEL is the Junction
Station for the lines from Grafenau, Bodenmais, and Plattling, through
Zwiesel to Bayerisch Eisenstein which in turn is the junction Station
for onward travel into the Czech Republic, in 2006 the Czech Republic
became a member of the “EU”, so some DMU’s now travel from Plattling
through Zwiesel into the Czech Republic as far as SPICAK.
Period modelled is 2000—2006.
The diesel units (DMU’s) on
the layout are manufactured by German Company “BEMO”.There are three
different liveries portrayed by the DMU’s on this layout.
1.
Earliest
livery is the WALDBAHN Grey/ Red.
2.
Livery is the WALDBAHN Green/Yellow.
3. The Yellow/Green
livery is a unit from the OBERPFALZBAHN line which goes from LAM to
CHAM via Bad Kotzting. This unit is used as unable to procure any of the
WALDBAHN units from the manufacturer (BEMO).
Thanks to the following
