Upsan Downs
O Gauge by
George Woolnough
Deep in the heart of Southern Railway
territory you will find the market town of Upsan Downs. Situated
between the southern downs and the various seaside resorts. The
town is now starting to prosper again after the austere war years.
Almost two years have passed since hostilities ended and the town is now
seeing a return of the holidaymakers and an increase in freight traffic.
The station building is based on Banstead
on the line from West Croydon to Epson Downs and is built from foam
board, card and Plasticard. Most of the other buildings have been
made using this method, whilst the watermill has been constructed from
plywood and MDF covered with DAS modelling clay carved to represent the
stonework.
Track is Peco with the points and double
slips constructed from copper clad sleepers and rail.
Pictures taken at the
Rainhill MRC 'Model Rail 2008'.
