RYDE ESPLANADE
NGauge By Steve Searson
The Isle of Wight has always had an
unusual and appealing aspect due to the stock used.
Archaic locomotives and rolling stock which were used
right up to electrification or closure in 1966. This and
the tube stock used there, which of course was withdrawn
by London Transport in the early 1960's.
The layout time period is
the mid to late 1980's, as after this date the area to
the left of the station changed. 80 photographs were
taken of the Esplanade station to get the details and
feel of the site through some modellers licence.
The tube car bodies are
all cast in resin, from a rubber mould, the masters of
which were produced from plastic card and designed to fit
a Kato chasis. Steve
