Overlord
OO Gauge by
Leamington & Warwick MRS
"Overlord" began life some 10 years ago
as a result of an interest in railway and military modelling brought
together through a book on the port of Southampton and its role in the
preparation for the D-day landings of June 1944.
The display now includes the open
entrance to the harbour with further evidence of the build up of
logistical support and ingenuity needed to support the advance inland.
A ramp has been built to allow the direct
loading of wagons into the landing ships. New sidings allow the
army train in the assembly of military rolling stock. Temporary
platforms deliver departing troops and await the inevitable return of
casualties.
Pictures taken at The Welsh National
Model Railway Exhibition, LLandudno. Presented by Colwyn
Model Railway Club.
