J.V.RAILROAD
HOGauge By Vic Parsons
The J.V.
Railroad is a HO gauge layout and the brainchild of Vic
Parsons. It originated in 1992 and was made on a 4' by 8'
table from a plan out of a book. As you can see, over the
years it has been added to and has now grown into 23' by
14' with some 420' of track and 52 turnouts. The layout
uses names from Newfoundland, as this is where Vic is
from, but the model does not exactly match these areas.
There are working lights
in all of the buildings, flashing lights at all of the
crossings and train sounds which are under the tables.
Vic has fitted a dimmer switch which can be adjusted to
bring on night time. He even keeps a visitors book and
has had visitors from Canada, USA and across Europe.
In one of the
pictures, the traffic lights in the lower left corner are
made with 60cent light bulbs, metal washers painted black,
and small brass tubing, They are wired to the turnouts,
so that the red indicates points turning your train to
siding or yard, and the green indicating points heading
your train straight down the mainline. He did not use
snap relays, too expensive, and made his own system of
operating them. Atlas turnouts and switches and then my
wiring.
Thank you to Vic for sending in and allowing us
to show these pictures.
