Model Railroad

These pictures show the model railroad
developed by the chair of Prof. Dr. Konrad Froitzheim (Chair of
Operating Systems and Communication Technologies) of the Institute of
Computer Science.
The completely digital installation was built up by students. After the
mathematical calculation of the driving routes, establishing theories on
the collision avoidance and clarification of questions how to control
the hardware, software could be successfully implemented on the control
server in the student project. Together with a web server it serves as a
link between the internet users and the model railroad.
The control desk and the control software are developed permanently to
offer the user maximum supervision including simple operation, but also
to design the processes as fault-free as possible. Webcams facilitate
commanding the trains, as well as supervising the travelling trains and
the complete model.
