HAMPTON HILL

OO GAUGE by Simon Ward

First a little info.... I had a train set as a child and started adding to it, I wanted to create something really professional but at 10 years old had neither the budget nor the artistic dexterity to do so!

2 years ago I was clearing out my parents loft and found my old train set (in pieces), I rescued it, took it home and did nothing with it for a year until I had to take 6 months off work so I decided to build this railway to pass the time...

Baseboard was 6ft x 4ft, continuous run 3 track circuit. Track was a mix of Hornby and Peco, and rolling stock was Hornby and Bachmann. The idea was to try and get something half decent looking on a baseboard the same size I had when I was a kid.

Location is fictitious to an extent, its loosely set in the east midlands/west Anglia area in present day. The station is called ‘Hampton Hill’, this has no relevance apart from that I lived in Hampton when it was built .   Overall I'm pleased with the result, as this was my first ever one!
