DeadWater Burn

EM Gauge by
Russ & Ros Wilkes

Deadwater Burn is based on the real Deadwater station- which was on the Border Counties branch line from Hexham to Riccarton Junction. Subsequently absorbed by the North British Railway. The real branch closed in 1956 to passenger trains, and closed completely by 1958. Though Bellingham station was accessible via another route (the Wansbeck Line) until 1966.

On Deadwater Burn its history has been re-written to allow the survival of both passenger and freight operations until the closure of the Waverley Route in 1969- though it is modelled as being very much in decline.  - overgrown siding and platform etc.

An interesting fact about the station is that it is located almost exactly on the border between Northumberland and Roxburghshire and of course England and Scotland.

Deadwater Burn can be seen at Scalerail East Midlands, Shepshed, Leicestershire 19/20 April 2008.
