DALRY ROAD
O Gauge by Steve Thompson & Family
In the late sixties, wagon load freight
and short trip workings were still very much in existence North of the
border. Dieselisation was virtually complete with numerous classes
of locomotives.
The layout depicts a busy freight yard
that is located just off the approaches to Edinburgh Princes Street
station and is one of the many smaller yards that feeds the mammoth
Millerhill complex and the Waverley route.
The locomotives are mainly the smaller
Bo-Bo class such as classes 17, 24, 25 and 26. Rolling stock is
entirely non-passenger and represents the varied freight stock that
operated in this era.
Plain track work is C&L with points built
using their components. Point operation is by Fulgurex or Lemanco
slow action motors with all wiring taken back to the main control panel.
Controllers are handheld Gaugemaster. Buildings are all scratch
built from plastic sheet or card.
Pictures taken at The Welsh National
Model Railway Exhibition, LLandudno. Presented by Colwyn
Model Railway Club.
