RHEILFFORDD CEFN GAM
OGauge By Mike Cook
Cefn Gam was situated in the hills to the north of Mawddach estuary
in Merionethshire. The quarry was established in the early 19th
century and it was too expensive to transport the slate to the river.
If the quarry was established 40 years later, then this layout is what
might of been. The main idea for this layout was to make it as easily
manageable and transportable as possible. The two main boards (4ft
x 2ft) fold over themselves to make a box hut, but there have been
several other additions added since then including the 3ft waterfall
board. There are seven locomotives at the current time. These
are split between the passenger train locos and those that deal only
with slate trains and shunting. All the locos are named after
friends who have assisted, in many ways. Pictures taken at Warley 2001. Copyright
