California Coast
Z Scale by
Dave Dawes
This model railroad
layout has been built to show what can be achived in Z scale, it is not
set on a particular location, but has been built to try and give a feel
of the California coast with trains running through the scenery.
The layout did have a
time line of roughly the mid 1970’s to mid 1980’s, but with all the
great Z scale locomotives and stock coming through from the many
manufacturers , I have decided to run trains from most decades.
The layout size is 8’
long by 18” wide, I would require 3’6” behind the layout and 3’ on the
left side as you look at the layout for the operating areas.
(Total space 11’ x 5’)
The layout is run using
Modelex dc control systems with a 12 volt input, giving about 9 volts at
the track.
California Coast has
appeared in the Continental Modeller and Z track magazine
