Alsbahn
N Gauge by
Al Prescott
Alsbahn is a fictitious layout with
scenery copied from many photographs taken in Switzerland and Austria.
It works automatically using heathcote electronics modules and infra-red
detectors. These detectors reflect back from the underside of the
vehicles triggering other home made electronics and signals.
Where possible track has been
super-elevated and there are seven locomotives in use continuously.
The cable car is a replica of one near Frieburg in Germany.
Scenery is mainly carved from dense polystyrene and interwoven strips of
card covered in newspaper.
Pictures taken at the
Rainhill MRC 'Model Rail 2008'.
